Ultra sustainable packaging
Our refill pouches are non-polluting. They have high barrier properties to both oxygen and moisture and are fully biodegradable and compostable. They will break down into healthy compost leaving no microplastics behind and conform to all major compost certifications including OK Compost Home, TUV Home S0370 and AS5810. Made by Grounded Packaging, Sous Vide Tools and The Vacuum Pouch Company.
The sustainably sourced cardboard outer envelope that houses your refill pouch is both recyclable and compostable. It is FSC and PEFC certified and of carbon-neutral manufacturing. Made by Colompac.
Cup characteristics
Alex Coffee is sourced, roasted and blended to produce a classic, familiar flavour profile (think more chocolate than tropical fruit notes) that is strong and full-bodied, yet without any hard roast flavours (such as aggressive bitterness or smoke/burnt notes), becoming naturally sweet as it cools in the cup. The acidity is soft and tempered, not ‘bright’ or sour. As such, it will mix beautifully with milk. The aftertaste lingers pleasantly and without a sense of dryness.
Quality & Provenance
We use only specialty-grade, ultra-traceable, current-harvest Arabica beans of extraordinary quality and provenance. As such, the coffees we select come only in limited quantities. We curate Alex Coffee by evaluating new coffees throughout the year and alter the composition of the blend accordingly to express the cup characteristics described above. Therefore, the beans you order at any one time may be single origin or a blend. At our London boutique, we produce each preparation of Alex Coffee with meticulous care on a VA White Eagle T3 espresso machine, Mahlkonig grinder, precision made and matched baskets and tamper and, of course, appropriately filtered water.
